Mercury Bay Community Choir
Mercury Bay Community Choir (MBCC), an unauditioned choir, welcomes singers of all ages and abilities. Our choir meets for weekly rehearsals on a Monday night from 6pm to 8pm in the Mercury Bay Area School Music Room, in Whitianga. We learn and perform (for our loyal audience of around 100 people) two or three repertoires each year, consisting of pieces of music from a wide variety of genres, usually performed in three or four parts.
Our core purpose is to have fun and great pleasure singing together and to contribute to the on-going development of choral singing in Mercury Bay. We do this by (a) supporting non-readers of music by producing an electronic recording of each part (b) providing several day-long workshop opportunities each year (c) bringing a highly skilled guest director to Mercury Bay at least once each year and (d) being a friendly, welcoming and inclusive group to newcomers.
You are welcome to come to check us out by attending three rehearsals before you join. But ultimately we really want you to sing with us! Please direct any enquiries to Kate Nielsen at ph 866 2573 / 027 270 9058 or just come along to any Monday practice.
Here is the Choir's most recent news:
Singing for Enjoyment: Having just completed a fabulous Soup & Song afternoon in May we are spending our next short trimester starting June 11th, with learning fun songs and reprising some favorites. Preparation for the next big event in late November.
